A layered shot in a glass. In order from top to bottom are layers of clear, dark brown, and light tan. You don't know why, but it reminds you of a sandwich.

I love me a sandwich. Something about two pieces of bread nuzzling some morsel of goodness between them is mouthwatering. And speaking of water, or rather liquid, would you believe me if I told you that you can drink this sandwich? Allow me to explain!

It's not a sandwich at all, it's a shot of alcohol. By combining the powers of coffee, banana, and creamed rum, we obtain a layered shot known as the Banana Sandwich. Smooth in its texture, and forthwith with its alcoholness, this shot is an experience before, during, and after.

Before devouring, it smells heavily of the banana liqueur (high in proof) that sits atop the other layers. During the shot, the flavor of the coffee both from the coffee liqueur and the rum cream that I used combines so pleasantly with the banana that it almost tastes like one of those chocolate-covered bananas. Afterward, they settle and even themselves out. For me, that coffee spirit I used, the Mr. Black Coffee Amaro was the most lingering taste, reminding me of the chocolate oranges that are sometimes packaged to look like orange slices. The banana flavor fades away, unfortunately...

One more banana sandwich for me, please!
