Mae West Royal Diamond Fizz

Now that's a lotta words to unpack.

Mae West was an actress and burlesque icon in the 1920s-30s. Known for her more raunchy shows, she was one of those gals that was put in jail because of the content of her shows!

One such show was called Diamond Lil which covered the story of a prostitute named Lil who attempts to woo a wealthy individual, Jack, but struggles to do so successfully given her disposition.

Another show of West's, The Constant Sinner debuted in 1931 three years after Diamond Lil in the Royale Theater. A widely criticized show, the show was ultimately a disappointment but did benefit in enhancing West's image!

Mae West lived until 87 when she passed on shortly after having a stroke. Her legacy lives on having challenged social norms and censorship when rigid morality was rampant.

With our historical deep-dive covered: How's it taste? We'd never had goji-berry-anything prior to last week, so it was hard to describe on its own. I found that the whole drink was almost like a PB&J sandwich. The jelly flavor was rather tart-pomegranate and the dryness of the goji-powder reminded me of sourdough bread. The note that was peanut-y I believe came from the Four Roses bourbon that we used (which was recommended by the recipe). It's a wonderfully complex drink and so well put together. Well worth the effort!
